Adoption

How to adopt a puppy. Fill out the contact us submission or email directly at sagebrushbernedoodles@yahoo.com. I will message you back with questions to confirm you and your lifestyle are a good fit for one of our puppies. If you are approved, you must place a $500 non-refundable deposit to secure your place on the list. The price of the puppy will stay at what is agreed upon at time/date of deposit. The price of the puppy includes, healthy puppy exam, first round of puppy vaccines, deworming, removal of dew-claws, 1 year health guarantee, initial training, food for easy transition, toys and a blanket that smells like mom and his/her litter mates.

Payments can be made through Venmo or you can mail a personal check. Once we have received your deposit you will officially be placed on a reservation list. The remainder of the adoption fee is due prior to pickup.

Bringing  Puppy Home

Set up a appointment with your vet as far in advance as possible for a health check within 72 hours of going home, this is a requirement for the health guarantee to be valid.

This is also a good time to do some research & put together a printed list with your regular veterinarian, 24 hour Emergency Vet Clinic and research Pet Insurances to find the right fit for you.

Puppy proof your home and make sure your puppy is supervised at all times outside unless it is in a fully enclosed (including a roof) area until it is at least 25 lbs: puppies make the perfect snack for predators we have in the area. Berners are famous for loving to eat things they shouldn’t so ensure your puppies area is free of debris, rocks and safety hazards.

Get a puppy area set up in an area of your house that is not carpeted. I recommend setting up an area with baby gates or a play pen that secures the puppy when you can’t be watching them. Put its crate with the door open in one corner with blankets & toys to make it a positive space. In the rest of the space set up some toys & a pee pad or litter area, in-case of accidents.

This puppy is not fully potty trained when it goes home: we work on potty training & work to teach them the concept of going potty in a specific place - however that concept in your space will take time, patience and frequent outdoor trips.
